Job summary

Harvard University’s Office for Graduate Education (OGE) seeks an Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs to provide operational leadership for the HMS-based graduate education portfolio. You will supervise staff, manage the full lifecycle of sponsored awards, and ensure compliant, efficient administration of tuition, stipends, and training funds.

The role requires strong financial management, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with faculty and central offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor two Senior Grants Managers and oversee proposal submissions, awards, reporting and closeout.
• Manage a portfolio of complex sponsored awards (NIH, foundation, federal and non-federal).
• Develop budgets and financial projections with PIs and program leadership.
• Monitor expenditures, cost sharing, effort reporting, and sponsor compliance.
• Collaborate with HMS and university offices to resolve complex issues.
