Job summary

UMIAQ Environmental seeks a Spill Response Technician and Coordinator to lead field safety programs and emergency response across environmental projects, ensuring OSHA and EPA compliance and rapid, compliant spill actions.

The role emphasizes training, drills, and coordination with regulators, clients, and contractors, maintaining readiness of response equipment and HASP adherence in dynamic field settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in relevant safety/environmental field.
• 3+ years of site safety experience in environmental projects or industrial settings.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and hazardous waste handling regulations.
• Certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 40, CHST, CSP, or equivalent preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety and health programs for environmental projects, including spill response, remediation, and monitoring.
• Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and site inspections to ensure OSHA/EPA compliance.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and contaminated waste per regulatory standards.
• Train staff on safety procedures, hazard communication, and emergency response protocols.
• Develop and maintain spill response plans, protocols, and procedures.
• Coordinate and lead emergency response efforts during hazardous material spills with speed and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct ongoing training and drills for spill response equipment and procedures.
• Liaise with regulators, responders, clients, and contractors during spill events.
