Job summary

Republic Services seeks an ES Field Technician III to support emergency response, hazardous and non-hazardous spill cleanup, and hazmat decontamination. The role includes supervising teammates, guiding less experienced staff, and performing operations under broad instruction.

The ideal candidate has experience with heavy equipment, safety-focused mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to regulations. This position emphasizes safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend documents such as operations, safety and quality instructions.
• Understands the dangers of chemicals and reads safety data sheets.
• Willingness to provide input on working practices to meet departmental goals.
• Has confidence to point out unsafe practices or conditions.
• Positive attitude and high mental resilience.
• Adheres to company policies and safety standards.
• Proficient with light tablet/PC use.
• Ability to operate heavy and light equipment (forklift, pallet-jack) and use hand tools with accuracy.
• Some states may require equipment operation certificates (e.g., man-lift, hoisting license).
• CDL/class hazmat endorsements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup and decontamination activities.
• Responds to customer spills and emergencies during and after hours.
• Maintains equipment and site housekeeping.
• Operates light and heavy cleanup equipment (forklift, pallet-jack, vacuum truck, etc.).
• Performs DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintains vehicle logs.
• Presents information to management and customers.
• Adheres to safety policies and regulations at all times.
• Maintains daily reports and records for emergency response and cleanup operations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
