Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Environmental Services Field Technician I to perform basic spill cleanup, hazardous and non-hazardous cleanup, and related tasks under close supervision. You will respond to spills, operate equipment, and maintain a clean, safe work site while adhering to safety policies and procedures.

The role requires ability to read and follow technical instructions, handle equipment, and communicate effectively with team members.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend operational, technical, safety, and quality instructions.
• Knowledge of chemicals and ability to understand safety data sheets to mitigate hazards.
• Willingness to provide input on safe working practices to meet departmental goals.
• Confident in voicing unsafe practices or conditions.
• Positive attitude and high mental resilience.
• Adherence to company safety standards.
• Proficiency with light tablet/PC use.
• Skilled with hand and shop tools and instruments.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping, shoveling, high-pressure washing in confined spaces.
• Responds to customer spills and emergencies during and after business hours.
• Maintains general housekeeping and equipment/work site upkeep.
• Follows safety policies and regulations in all job duties.
• Sets up and uses equipment (pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jack, skid steer).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
