Job summary

Republic Services in Greensboro, NC is seeking an Environmental Services (ES) Field Technician I to work under close supervision on basic troubleshoot tasks and routine spill cleanups. You will perform tank cleaning, decontamination, and operate equipment like pumps, generators, and air compressors, ensuring compliance with safety policies.

The role requires the ability to read instructions, handle hazardous materials safely, and stay organized across multiple duties.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend operating instructions, safety manuals, and technical documents.
• Knowledge of chemicals and ability to understand safety data sheets to mitigate hazards.
• Willingness to provide input on working practices to meet departmental goals.
• Positive attitude and high level of mental resilience.
• Proficiency with light tablet/PC usage.
• Ability to use hand and shop tools and instruments effectively.
• Current confined space entry certification or ability to obtain on hire where required.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.
• 0–2 years of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping and shoveling, high-pressure washing, and confined-space entry tasks.
• Responds to customer spills and emergencies during and after normal business hours.
• Keeps work sites clean and maintains equipment and tools.
• Adheres to safety policies and regulations in all duties.
• Sets up and uses equipment such as pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jacks, and skid steers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
