Job summary

Powdersville Post Acute is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our rehabilitation team on a PRN basis in Easley, SC. You will evaluate and treat residents with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders, helping them achieve their highest level of function and quality of life.

The position requires a Master’s or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, with preferred experience in skilled nursing or rehabilitation.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred.
  • Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care is preferred.
  • Strong clinical, communication, and documentation skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents to determine speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy needs.
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide skilled speech-language pathology services to residents.
  • Supervise CFYs and students as applicable.
  • Communicate with physicians, nursing staff, and families regarding plans and progress.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our rehabilitation team on a PRN basis. In this role, you will evaluate and treat residents with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders, helping them achieve their highest level of function, independence, and quality of life.

Essential Duties
  • Evaluate residents to determine speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy needs in accordance with physician orders and facility policies
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on resident goals and progress
  • Provide skilled speech-language pathology services to residents
  • Assist the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides as appropriate
  • Supervise Clinical Fellows (CFY) and students in accordance with state practice regulations
  • Communicate regularly with physicians, nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families regarding treatment plans, progress, and discharge recommendations
  • Participate in care plan meetings, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation conferences as needed
  • Conduct in-service education and training programs for facility staff
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and payer guidelines
  • Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control and safety protocols
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, cognitive support, swallowing precautions, aspiration prevention, and maintenance programs
  • Recommend and facilitate appropriate adaptive equipment and interventions to support resident function and safety
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellows (CFY) and students, when applicable
Education & Experience
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred
  • Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care preferred
  • Experience with Net Health and PointClickCare (PCC) preferred
  • Strong clinical, communication, and documentation skills
Licenses & Certifications
  • Current South Carolina Speech-Language Pathologist license in good standing
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred
  • Must maintain all required continuing education requirements
  • Must remain in good standing with the State Board
  • CPR certification if required by licensure or facility policy
