RiverCare, Home Health division of Riverview Retirement Community, seeks a Speech Language Pathologist to join our Home Health Therapy team in Spokane. Provide comprehensive care in patients' homes addressing speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive communication disorders.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice as an SLP in Washington State.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP or CFY eligibility.
  • Minimum 2 years in SLP; home health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and evaluate speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive communication skills.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based strategies.
  • Deliver therapy to improve communication, swallowing, breathing, and cognitive skills.
  • Educate caregivers to support communication and safe oral intake.
  • Maintain detailed progress notes and electronic charting; ensure payer compliance.

Description

RiverCare, Home Health division of Riverview Retirement Community, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our dedicated Home Health Therapy team. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, through our Home Health department. We provide specialized therapy for patients with speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive communication disorders in their own homes. This role blends clinical expertise with patient-centered care, often working with homebound individuals who cannot easily travel to clinics. As a vital member of our team, you will develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient and their families.

Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct diagnostic evaluations of speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive communication skills using standardized tools.

Treatment Planning: Develop individualized therapy plans using evidence-based strategies, materials, and techniques tailored to each patient’s needs.

Therapy Delivery: Implement interventions to improve communication, swallowing, breathing, and cognitive skills; teach strategies for socialization, word retrieval, and expression.

Caregiver Education: Train family members or caregivers on techniques to reduce anxiety, support communication, and ensure safe oral intake.

Documentation: Maintain detailed progress records and electronic charting to track outcomes and meet payer requirements.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.

Collaboration: Work with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.

Requirements
Speech Language Pathologist Job Qualifications:

Education: Master’s or degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice as an SLP in Washington State.

Certification: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for Clinical Fellowship Year.

Experience: Minimum 2 years in SLP, with home health experience preferred but not required.

Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and treatment skills; ability to work independently; CPR certification; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
