Job summary

Lifepoint Rehabilitation at Kindred Hospital - Houston Northwest ARU is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our 12-bed inpatient rehab unit. You’ll evaluate swallowing and communication disorders and contribute to patient recovery.

The role requires a Master's in SLP, a state license as a Speech Therapist, and BLS within 60 days of hire. You’ll collaborate with families and clinical staff to design and implement effective care plans and discharge goals.

• Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
• Licensure as a Licensed Speech Therapist.
• BLS certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Kindred Hospital Houston Northwest's Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 12 bed specialized inpatient rehab unit designed to help patients recover from serious medical conditions and injuries.

How you'll contribute:

• Evaluates and treats patient populations for swallowing, speech-language and therapy needs.

Essential Functions

• Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient and family.
• Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
• Supervises activities of clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Education: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology Required
• Licenses: Licensed Speech Therapist
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire

Required Skills

• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
