Job summary

Lifepoint Rehabilitation, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Houston Northwest. The role focuses on evaluating and treating swallowing and communication disorders, collaborating with patients and families to plan effective care.

The SLP will perform initial and ongoing assessments, educate patients, and assist with discharge planning while supervising clinical fellows and students in a busy inpatient rehab setting.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • Licensed Speech Therapist credential required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.

Kindred Hospital Houston Northwest's Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) is a 12 bed specialized inpatient rehab unit designed to help patients recover from serious medical conditions and injuries.

How You’ll Contribute

Evaluates and treats patient populations for swallowing, speech-language and therapy needs.

Essential Functions
  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient and family.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
  • Supervises activities of clinical fellows, students, and other support personnel.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology Required
  • Licenses: Licensed Speech Therapist
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
