Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in the Washington, D.C. area.

You will diagnose and treat patients with speech-language and swallowing disorders resulting from neurogenic or surgical etiologies and develop appropriate therapy plans. Responsibilities include comprehensive evaluations, establishing goals, and coordinating care with the interdepartmental rehabilitation team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
• ASHA Certification required.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in DC within 90 days or SP-L eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for speech, language and swallowing disorders.
• Establishes treatment goals and develops therapeutic programs; determines oral intake vs alternative nutrition as needed.
• Summarizes test results and progress notes; maintains medical records and follows up as required.
• Performs hearing screening and participates in interdisciplinary rehabilitation meetings and rounds.
• Presents in-service trainings and may mentor graduate students.
