Job summary

MedStar Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to diagnose and treat patients with speech-language and swallowing disorders arising from neurogenic or surgical etiologies. You will develop therapy modalities and determine when therapy can be discontinued.

The role involves comprehensive evaluations, setting treatment goals, documentation, and collaboration with nursing, rehabilitation, and medical staff. A DC-licensure path is noted with ASHA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• 1–2 years of progressively responsible work experience.
• ASHA Certification and SP-L licensure in DC within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of speech, language and swallowing disorders.
• Establishes treatment goals and develops therapeutic programs; determines oral feeding eligibility.
• Documents progress notes and related medical records; supports billing and referrals.
• Participates in interdepartmental rehab team meetings, discharge rounds, and family conferences.
• Maintains current knowledge of trends by reading literature and attending seminars.
