Job summary

Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI) is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist for inpatient rehabilitation on-site. The role involves evaluating and treating adults 15+ with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and related impairments, under physician referral.

You will develop patient-centered plans aligned with medical necessity, maintain documentation, supervise techs/students, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in a nationally recognized program.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university is required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.
• Speech-Language Pathologist IN state license is required.
• Current CPR certification per AHA standards or able to obtain within 4 weeks of start date.

Responsibilities

• Administers SLP evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs.
• Provides comprehensive assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment.
• Develops patient-centered treatment plans to optimize communication, cognition and swallowing.
• Ensures treatment plans support medical necessity and incorporate evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
• Completes documentation in compliance with timelines to support medical necessity.
• Charges appropriately for services and documents outcome measures.
• Provides clinical supervision and delegation of duties to techs and students per regulations.

Position Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Inpatient position is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders for an inpatient and/or outpatient population age 15 and older, under the referral of a physician or qualified non-physician provider.

What You'll Do

• Administers SLP evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation population.
• Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients.
• Develops a patient-centered treatment plan for rehabilitation of patients based on the evaluation, patient goals and age-related issues/needs to optimize treatment and functional communication, cognition and/or swallowing.
• Responsible for ensuring the treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
• Accurately completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and appropriate medical necessity.
• Charges appropriately for services provided and appropriately document outcome measures.
• Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to techs and students according to state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines.

Qualifications / Experience

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university required
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association required
• Speech-Language Pathologist IN state license required
• Must have current CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards or be able to obtain within 4 weeks of start date
• One (1) year of clinical experience in rehabilitation preferred but will consider Clinical Fellowship Year candidates

Schedule and Location

• Setting: Inpatient rehabilitation, on-site at Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI)
• Schedule: Monday - Friday
• Hours: 7:30a-4:30pm
