Job summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (Outpatient) at The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders for patients age 15 and older, from outpatient and inpatient settings in Indianapolis, IN. Under physician referral, the SLP develops patient-centered treatment plans, ensures medical necessity, and documents outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • CCC-SLP certification is required.
  • Indiana state license for SLP is required.
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain within 4 weeks of start date.
  • One year of clinical rehabilitation experience preferred, CFY considered.

Responsibilities

  • Administer SLP evaluations for inpatients and outpatients and determine treatment plans and equipment needs.
  • Provide comprehensive assessments of adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairments.
  • Develop patient-centered rehabilitation plans to optimize communication, cognition, and swallowing outcomes.
  • Ensure treatment plans reflect medical necessity and evidence-based approaches with measurable outcomes.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner to support medical records and service eligibility.
  • Provide clinical supervision of support staff and students per regulations and hospital guidelines.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and highly organized Marketing Coordinator to support our marketing and communications initiatives.

Position Summary

Under management direction, The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Outpatient is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders for an inpatient and/or outpatient population age 15 and older, under the referral of a physician or qualified non-physician provider.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administers SLP evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and/or equipment needs, integrating age specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation population.
  • Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients.
  • Develops a patient-centered treatment plan for rehabilitation of patients based on the evaluation, patient goals and age-related issues/needs to optimize treatment and functional communication, cognition and/or swallowing.
  • Responsible for ensuring the treatment plan supports medical necessity and incorporates evidence-based treatments and outcome measures.
  • Accurately completes documentation in compliance with department and regulatory timelines to ensure a complete medical record that supports skilled services and appropriate medical necessity.
  • Charges appropriately for services provided and appropriately document outcome measures.
  • Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to techs and students according to state/federal regulations and hospital guidelines.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association required
  • Speech-Language Pathologist IN state license required
  • Must have current CPR certification in accordance with AHA standards or be able to obtain within 4 weeks of start date
  • One (1) year of clinical experience in rehabilitation preferred but will consider Clinical Fellowship Year candidates
