Job summary

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center in Western New York (Buffalo, NY 14203) is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Speech-Language Pathology for our community-based EI and CPSE preschool program. The full-time, 12-month role provides strong supervision and a dedicated mentor to support your professional growth.

Required: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology; New York State licensure or CFY eligibility; CCC-SLP or CFY eligibility; TSSLD Initial or permanent certificate for school positions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or CFY eligible.
• CCC-SLP or CFY eligible.
• TSSLD Initial or Permanent if working in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Impart SLP instruction in EI and CPSE preschool services.
• Assess and diagnose communication disorders; determine prognosis and therapy plan.
• Collaborate with teachers, OTs, PTs, audiologists, and SLP supervisors.
• Submit evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge reports.
• Supervise CFYs and TSSLDs as required by licensure and policy.

Join our great team of professionals! Looking for a CF for our community-based program serving Early Intervention and CPSE preschool services in the Northtowns area. We provide excellent supervision; CFs have an assigned mentor/supervisor to provide support and guidance.

Sign-On Bonus Details

• $1,250 paid upon hire
• $1,250 paid after 6 months of employment

Essential Functions

• Imparting knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction
• Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
• Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
• Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
• Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
• Communicates regularly with family/student.
• Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
• Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
• Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.

Education Required

• Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program

Required License/Registration/ Certification

• New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (or CFY eligible)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) (or CFY eligible)
• Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate (for positions within a school).

Physical Requirements

• Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
• Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
• Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
