Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a full-time School Based Speech Language Pathologist to work with students with speech and language disabilities at our Amherst Sweet Home location.

The role requires evaluating, diagnosing and delivering evidence-based therapy in an educational setting while collaborating with teachers and related professionals and maintaining licensure and professional certifications.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited speech language pathology program.
  • New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist or CFY eligible; ASHA CCC-SLP.
  • TSSLD Initial or Profession certificate or TSHH Permanent certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and recommend therapeutic intervention for communication disorders in an educational setting.
  • Implement SLP instruction to teach, habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.
  • Collaborate with teachers, OTs/PTs, audiologists and other professionals.
  • Submit evaluations, treatment and progress reports in a timely and organized manner.
  • Supervise CFYs and TSSLDs as required by licensed SLPs.

Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is looking for a FT School Based Speech Language Pathologist- Teacher of students with speech and language disabilities. Join our team and help make a positive difference in our students' lives at our Sweet Home location in Amherst.

Job Summary:

The School Based Speech Language Pathologist - Teacher of Students with Speech & Language Disabilities/Teacher of Speech & Hearing Handicapped is responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders in an educational setting. In addition, responsibilities include the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction designed to teach, habilitate or rehabilitate the communicatively impaired student.

Essential Functions:
  • Imparting knowledge via the implementation of appropriate Speech-Language Pathology instruction
  • Display competence in the area of speech-language impairment (either licensed or under the careful direction and supervision of a licensed SLP). Determines type and severity of speech-language impairment, under careful supervision if unlicensed SLP. Determines prognosis and appropriate instruction and treatment for speech-language impairments.
  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and recommendation for therapeutic intervention for individuals with communication disorders. Working collaboratively with other professionals such as the classroom teacher, other SLPs, OTs, PTs, Audiologists, supervisors and other as appropriate.
  • Submits written reports of the evaluations, treatment and educational plans, progress reports, and discharge reports as appropriate. Maintain paperwork within legal and agency guidelines. Ensures paperwork is completed in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Makes appropriate referrals as needed in order to affect positive therapeutic results.
  • Communicates regularly with family/student.
  • Exhibit professional judgment, maturity, and upgrades professional knowledge through involvement in continuing education programs. Participate in the delivery of and/or attend in-service programs. Participate in formal staff training. Maintain SLP licensure and TSSLD certification.
  • Licensed Speech Pathologists are required to supervise CFYs and TSSLDs appropriately, ensuring legal guidelines and agency policies are precisely followed.
  • Any other duty as requested by your supervisor.

Compensation:

$55,001.95/yr - $70,127.40/yr + a comprehensive benefit package.
