Job summary

Martin Public Schools is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist. A Master’s degree in Speech & Language and CCC certification are required, along with knowledge of AAC systems to support students’ communication.

The responsibilities include conducting assessments, contributing to IEP meetings, developing goals and therapy plans, monitoring progress, and collaborating with teachers, families, and community services under the Board’s Master Agreement.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.
• Ability to train staff, students, and families in the use of AAC devices and strategies.
• Other qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of speech, voice, hearing, or language development to inform interventions and eligibility.
• Participate in IEP meetings, providing input to meet student needs.
• Provide recommendations on eligibility for services and develop goals and objectives for therapy.
• Provide individualized therapy programs to meet student needs and address delays.
• Monitor, document, and communicate student progress through PowerSchool IEP program.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to implement therapy in daily activities.
• Serve as a resource to staff in developing balanced speech and language programs.
• Assist teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected speech and language impairments.
• Provide information and support to parents and families on speech, voice, hearing, or language topics.
• Assist in referrals to community agencies and specialists as appropriate.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor or principal.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct a thorough assessment of speech, voice, hearing, or language development in order to make
data-based recommendations for intervention and eligibility, and participate in IEP meetings, providing
appropriate input to meet student needs.

Provide recommendations as to student eligibility for services and develop goals and objectives for those
students receiving therapy services.

Provide appropriate individualized therapy programs to meet individual student’s needs and correct
existing speech or language delays.

Monitor, document, and communicate student progress through PowerSchool Special Education IEP
program.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by
suggestions for the student’s daily activities.

Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for speech and
language impairments.

Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing and referring suspected and identified speech and
language impairments.

Provide information and support to parents and families around the topics of speech, voice, hearing, or
language when appropriate.

Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.

Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or principal.
