JOB SUMMARY:

Help students with a wide range of speech–language-related issues to meet performance standards. Their work includes prevention, assessment, intervention, and program design efforts that are integrated within a school.


Reports to:

Executive Director of Special Education


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Will serve as Teacher of Record for students with primary speech/language impairments and Teacher of Service for students with secondary speech/language impairments

  • Communicate with parents on a mutually agreed upon time for case conferences

  • Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including measurablegoals and objectives for each student’s needs as applicable to the educational setting

  • Bill Medicaid

  • Identifies/selects appropriate materials and equipment for therapy

  • Establish schedules for therapy sessions

  • Establish and maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures

  • Maintain accurate daily records and data collection to document students’attendance, progress, including requirements for Medicaid.

  • Manages time, materials, and equipment effectively

  • Create materials for students who have very specialized needs

  • Establishes and maintains a positive, organized, and safe environment for students

  • Uses technology resources effectively

  • Conducts comprehensive evaluations and completes progress reports.

  • Re-evaluates short-term objectives and writes new ones as needed.

  • Provides direct speech therapy using materials specific to the communication disorder(s)

  • Provides functional suggestions to teachers and parents regarding the student’stherapy program

  • Provide direct and/or consult services for students with speech/language services in the IEP

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents, and community agencies.

  • Attends IEP meetings and other student-related conferences as determined necessary

  • Participates in training sessions, conferences, and workshops to keep abreast of current practices, programs, and legal issues while maintaining professionalcertification and/or licensure

  • Promotes and supports the professional growth of self and others

  • Keeps well informed about current trends and best practices in the area of Speech Language Pathology

  • Maintains a network of peer contacts through professional organization

  • Models professional and ethical conduct at all times

  • Performs all professional responsibilities

  • Maintains confidentiality of student and other professional information

  • Complies with policies, procedures, and programs

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned which are necessary for the daily operation of the school program


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution.

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.

  • Possess an Indiana License as a Speech and Language Pathologist

  • One (1) year of experience in an educational setting is preferred.

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)/Assistive Technology (AT) experience is a plus.

  • Qualifications may vary from the above requirements to such a degree as theSuperintendent and Board determine is necessary and appropriate to ensure properlyqualified personnel in each specialized assignment.

  • The position covers multiple school buildings and sites and requires use of personal vehicles for travel with mileage reimbursement.


EFFECTIVE:

2025-26 school year, 187 days
