Job summary

Responsive Education Solutions seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide services at the Foundation School of Autism (FSA) for ECSE through 1st grade. The role includes planning individual and group therapy, conducting evaluations, and collaborating with ARD teams to support goals in students’ IEPs.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, a Texas SLP license, and 2+ years of school-based experience, including work with autism and school-aged children.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the SBESLPA.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Advanced knowledge of SLP practices, methodologies, and techniques.
  • 2+ years of experience working with school-aged children.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide individual and group therapy aligned with IEP goals.
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust therapy plans.
  • Conduct independent evaluations to assess eligibility for services.
  • Participate in ARD committee to interpret data and set goals.
  • Train parents on assistive technology when necessary.
  • Develop schedules for student services and ensure sessions are held.
  • Collaborate with teachers to generalize skills to the classroom.
  • Provide professional development to staff on communication deficits.

Job description

Position Summary

Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with autism and related disabilities. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with the students’ ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Foundation School of Autism (FSA) provides a highly specialized early childhood program serving students with autism in grades ECSE through 1st.

Qualifications

Education/Certification, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited College or University
  • Valid Texas license as a Speech Language Pathologist issued by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs):

  • Advanced knowledge of Speech-Language Pathology practices, methodologies, and techniques
  • 2+ years of experience working with school-aged children
  • 2+ years of experience working with children with autism
  • 2+ years of experience practicing Speech-Language Pathology
  • Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions
  • Knowledge of evaluation and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders
  • Knowledge of assistive technology for students with autism
  • Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Evaluate student progress
  • Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders and conditions to determine eligibility for services
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee to assist in the interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions according to district procedures
  • Troubleshoot problems with assistive devices for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working order
  • Train parents on assistive technology when necessary
  • Develop schedules for student services to be carried out efficiently and effectively and ensure all sessions are held
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to facilitate the generalization of skills demonstrated in therapy to the classroom
  • Provide professional development to help school personnel identify and understand communication deficits in students
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student
  • Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services and make changes based on the findings
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy
  • Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment
  • Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned
