Job Description

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides high-quality speech, language, and communication services to students with identified needs. The SLP works collaboratively with teachers, families, and school-based support staff to help students develop the communication skills necessary to access the curriculum, build relationships, and succeed academically and socially.

Job Expectations

  • Execute school-wide systems and structures that maximize scholar
  • Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and assessments in accordance with school and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement individualized speech and language intervention plans aligned with students' IEP goals.
  • Provide direct and/or consultative speech-language services in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
  • Address a range of communication needs, including articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, social communication, and pragmatic language.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data and student response.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, progress reports, evaluation records, and service logs.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute relevant assessment data, recommendations, goals, and service plans.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate communication goals into academic and classroom activities.
  • Consult with families regarding student progress, strategies, and ways to support communication development at home.
  • Support the development of inclusive classroom practices that promote student communication and participation.
  • Collaborate with related service providers and other members of the student support team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Participate in professional development and remain current on evidence-based practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Perform other duties related to student support and school operations as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Valid New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license and/or appropriate certification.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred/required as applicable.
  • Experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • Knowledge of special education processes, IEP development, and related-service requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, and student-centered practices.
