Job description

Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP)

The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) will assess, develop, and provide speech, language, and feeding/swallowing services to preschool and school‑age students. You will design therapy programs tailored to each child’s communication needs while supporting classroom success and meaningful social engagement.

Responsibilities
  • Screen, evaluate, and diagnose speech, language, and feeding/swallowing needs following ASHA guidelines.
  • Develop therapy goals and intervention strategies aligned with each student’s IEP and school philosophy.
  • Deliver direct and small‑group speech therapy using evidence‑based practices.
  • Maintain documentation, including evaluation reports, daily notes, progress summaries, and IEP updates.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, parent conferences, and professional consultations.
  • Assess the effectiveness of classroom language/communication strategies and collaborate with educators to support communication in academic settings.
  • Act as a child advocate and help support communication goals across home, school, and community environments.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.
  • Certification/License: NYS Speech licensure and NYS Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification (TSHH/TSSLD).
  • Experience: Pediatric or school‑based experience preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, advocacy, collaboration, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with children and multidisciplinary teams.
