Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) is seeking a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to provide communication therapy services for ECI clients in Laredo and Zapata County.

You will assess, diagnose, and treat children with speech-language-hearing needs, participate in team assessments, and deliver home and center-based training to families, while coordinating with supervisors and other staff.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Communication Disorders and Texas Speech-Language Pathologist licensure with ASHA CCC.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record; auto insurance required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

  • Provide communication therapy services for CACOST ECI clients.

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare clinical materials.
  • Provide in-service training to program staff and to parents/guardians.
  • Schedule updates and plan per the IFSP; coordinate transitions for children.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

**This position is responsible for Laredo and Zapata County.

General Summary

Responsible for providing communication therapy services for CACOST ECI clients. Responsible for the identification, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children in need of speech-language-hearing services. Responsible for participating in the initial and ongoing team assessments, providing home and center-based training opportunities for participating children and their families, and accessing in case management activities. Conducts in-service training for colleagues, functions as a specialty resource for team members and their caseloads. Responsibilities also include other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities
  • 1.Provides specific therapy procedures planned and directed by the licensed professional.
  • 2.Conducts carry over activities, language stimulation and other activities deemed appropriate by the licensed professional.
  • 3.Conducts speech, language and hearing screenings and assessments with appropriate supervision.
  • 4.Provides supportive services to ECI team members as needed. Assists with transitioning of children so it occurs in an organized fashion.
  • 5.Performs necessary documentation and maintains current and accurate records and preparation of clinical materials.
  • 6.As directed, provides in-service training to program staff and ongoing training for parents, guardians, or other caregivers.

  • 8.Provides and updates schedule as changes occur and ensures proper planning as per the IFSP.
  • 9.Other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
  • Two (2) years pediatric experience
  • Three (3) or more years pediatric experience
Education/Certifications/Licensure
  • A Master's Degree in Communication Disorders Must be licensed as a Speech/Language Pathologist in the State of Texas and hold Certification in Clinical Competence from the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record and auto insurance required.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment physical.

Physical Requirements

If a preliminary offer of employment is extended, a physical will be required before the offer can be accepted.

Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking, kneeling, floor sitting, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running, and the ability to move with agility in order to carry out IFSP services. Must be able to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Must have 3 years of pediatric experience.

Must have the ability to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, degrees of cleanliness/order and around other varied environmental factors and elements. Non-physical demands include performing multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to meet multiple deadlines, judgment decisions, emergency situations, irregular schedules, and working as a leader with other employees and client teams.
