  • Screen all referrals from Principals, Teachers, and Special Education personnel.
  • Work with principals on scheduling students with speech and language problems.
  • Evaluate and enroll students with speech problems in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, as well as participate in evaluation meetings.
  • Keep thorough records on all speech and language students.
  • Keep an annual inventory of equipment.
  • Assess student progress and prepare written reports as required, but at least quarterly.
  • Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis.
  • Participate in Screening programs.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Assist the administration in implementing District goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District.
  • Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence; and
  • Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the building principal, supervisor of special education or designee.

Position: Speech Language Pathologist

Location: Mountview Middle School

Pay: WREA Salary Schedule

The Speech Language Pathologist shall work to reduce or eliminate speech, language, and hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student\'s ability to derive full benefit from the school\'s educational program.

In order to meet this responsibility, the SLP shall:

  1. Screen all referrals from Principals, Teachers, and Special Education personnel;

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school students and familiarity with the unique challenges they may face.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Ability to adapt therapy approaches to meet individual student needs.
  • Organizational skills to manage assessments, therapy sessions, and documentation efficiently.
  • Dedication to providing inclusive and equitable services to a diverse student population.
  • A passion for helping students overcome communication barriers and achieve their full potential.
