Job summary

Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house rehabilitation team. This role focuses on adults in a subacute rehabilitation/skilled nursing setting, aimed at improving residents' recovery and quality of life.

The SLP will evaluate and treat communication and swallowing disorders, develop individualized plans, and collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to promote safety, independence, and meaningful functional gains.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current Iowa SLP license or eligibility for Iowa licensure.
• ASHA CCC-SLP or Clinical Fellowship status.
• Experience in skilled nursing/subacute rehab is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Provide evidence-based speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy.
• Treat residents recovering from stroke and other medical conditions.
• Assess and treat dysphagia and provide swallowing/dietary recommendations.
• Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans.
• Educate residents, families, caregivers, and staff on communication and swallowing needs.
• Participate in care plan meetings and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.
• Communicate changes in resident condition and treatment recommendations to team members.
• Promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or Clinical Fellowship status.
• Previous experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, acute care, or another medical setting is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, organizational, and clinical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
