Job summary

Metter is seeking a SPED Teacher (General Curriculum) for multiple locations. The role reports to the Principal and focuses on implementing and monitoring IEPs for students with disabilities in coordination with general education staff.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and valid Georgia teaching certificate. Applicants must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and follow district policies, with 190 school-day terms and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Georgia teaching certificate PSC required.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform two-person lifts as needed.
• Knowledge of disability areas and special education practices.

Responsibilities

• Develops and reviews the IEP for each student on caseload.
• Works with parents/guardians to support the student’s program.
• Maintains documentation and reports progress to families.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to deliver services.
• Implements data-driven behavior strategies (FBAs/BIPs).
• Uses formative and summative assessments to monitor progress.
• Ensures compliance with IEP timelines and procedures.
