Job summary

Metter is seeking a SPED Teacher with an Adapted Curriculum focus to support multiple locations in Georgia. The role emphasizes developing and implementing IEPs, collaborating with families, and delivering instruction aligned with individualized education plans.

The position requires Georgia SPED General Curriculum certification, knowledge of disability areas, and strong communication skills. Physical requirements include assisting with mobility needs as necessary, with a 190-day school-year

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Valid Georgia teaching certificate meeting PSC requirements (SPED General Curriculum); preferred Adapted Curriculum certification.
• Physical ability to lift a student up to 40 pounds and assist with two-person lifts.
• Strong written and oral communication; knowledge of disability areas and special education practices.

Responsibilities

• Demosntrates prompt attendance and completes follow-up procedures for students referred for special education services.
• Develops, implements, monitors, and regularly reviews IEPs for each student on caseload.
• Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the child’s educational program.
• Maintains and submits accurate paperwork within designated timelines.
• Delivers instruction according to IEPs and the established delivery model.
• Maintains lesson plans and uses data-driven behavior management strategies (FBAs/BIPs).
• Uses formative and summative assessments and reports progress to parents/guardians.
• Ensures due process protections for students and parents/guardians.
