Job summary

Metter is seeking a Special Education Co-Teacher to support inclusive classrooms and differentiate instruction for students with IEP goals. You will collaborate with general education teachers and provide individualized support to maximize student potential.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with state educator preparation and Georgia certification eligibility, plus the ability to maintain confidentiality and engage with families and paraprofessionals as part of a district team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and completed a state-approved educator preparation program, or have an out-of-state certificate.
• Valid Georgia teaching certificate or be eligible for certification.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan and maintain an individualized education plan (IEP) that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the student.
• Develop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Utilize effective teaching methods and employ a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to the maturity, interests, and needs of the students.
• Maintain lesson plans as required by school policy and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of IEP goals and objectives.
• Cooperate with personnel of the community health and social welfare.
• Schedule annual reviews and develop new IEPs for all students receiving special education.
• Participate in IEP conferences, including behavior management plans, placement, and annual reviews.
• Follow federal laws, state laws, and School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
