Job summary

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for its Desert Sky campus in Phoenix, AZ. The role collaborates with families, general education teachers, and support staff to deliver instruction aligned with students' IEPs, using data to guide goals and interventions.

The minimum qualifications include Arizona State Certification in Special Education and a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field with K–8 teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Arizona State Certification in Special Education.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field with 2+ years K–8 teaching experience.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and special education services.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support based on student needs.
• Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Commitment to supporting Title I, multilingual, and diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with IEPs based on their needs.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and update IEP goals.
• Differentiate instruction for varying academic levels.
• Use data to evaluate growth and adjust instruction and interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and IEP requirements.
• Implement BIPs, accommodations, and other supports.
• Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and service providers.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding progress and services.
• Participate in IEP meetings and related conferences.
• Create a structured, inclusive classroom environment.
• Engage in PBIS strategies to support behavior and social-emotional development.
• Pursue professional development and school-based meetings.
