Job summary

The Academies of Math and Science in Phoenix is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and services aligned with students' IEPs.

You will collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service providers to design goals, monitor progress, and ensure inclusive, evidence-based supports across K–8 classrooms. Arizona cert required; start date immediate; competitive compensation and benefits package offered.

Qualifications

  • Arizona State Certification in Special Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Education OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least two years of K–8 teaching experience
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and special education services
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support based on student needs
  • Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • Commitment to supporting Title I, multilingual, and diverse student populations
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and obtain/maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Responsibilities

  • Differentiate instruction to support students performing at varying academic and developmental levels
  • Use student performance data, assessments, and progress monitoring to evaluate growth and adjust instruction and interventions as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, services, accommodations, and IEP requirements
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), accommodations, modifications, and other individualized student supports
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and other members of the student support team
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, goals, services, and areas of support
  • Participate in and contribute to IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Utilize PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support students' behavioral and social-emotional development
  • Participate in professional development, professional learning communities, and school-based meetings
  • Collaborate with school and network teams to continuously improve instructional practices and student outcomes

Compensation: $58,331.25 – $64,571.89 year-round salary (DOE)

Sign-On Bonus: $2,000

Position Summary

This role works closely with students, families, general education teachers, and support staff to provide individualized instruction and services aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
