Job summary

AMS Schools is seeking passionate Special Education (SPED) teachers for current and future openings in the Phoenix and Mesa area. You will deliver specialized instruction, implement IEPs, and collaborate with families and campus teams to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.

Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree and Arizona teaching certification or eligibility; SPED certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Arizona teaching certification or eligibility to obtain applicable certification.
• Special Education certification, endorsement, or applicable eligibility preferred.
• Experience with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and documentation.
• Strong classroom and behavior-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and individualized support to students receiving special education services.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain student IEPs in accordance with requirements.
• Monitor progress toward IEP goals and use data to adjust instruction and interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations and support.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate with families and teams.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and other strategies.
• Provide instruction in various learning environments based on student needs.
• Ensure compliance with special education requirements and timelines.
• Build positive relationships with students and families.
