Job summary

International Leadership of Texas in Houston, TX seeks a seasoned Special Education Coordinator to lead the campus SPED department and coordinate services for students with IEPs. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Master's degree in Education from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education required
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in one of: Elementary or Middle School Generalist OR Core Subjects EC-6 OR Core Subjects 4–8 OR Other valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for the grade levels K-8

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD process
  • Lead ARD Committee meetings and ensure compliance with timelines
  • Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for students with IEPs
  • Assess student learning styles and tailor instruction accordingly
  • Present subject matter effectively and adapt curricula to student needs
  • Work with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula and support inclusion
  • Participate in ARD Committee meetings and maintain documentation
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents and school leadership
