Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District seeks a Paraprofessional (Special Education) - Self-Contained to support students in daily living, motor and behavioral skills, including feeding and toileting. You will work under a Special Education teacher in classes like Diagnostic Kindergarten/1st Grade, Academic Support, Behavior Support, and Essential Elements, collecting data and maintaining Medicaid documentation.

Strong patience and a calm demeanor in high-stress situations are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires fingerprinting and background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ESSA Highly Qualified: two years college/associates or PRAXIS score 460+.
• Transcripts or diploma must be provided with application or contingent offer.
• CPR & First Aid certification within 2 months of hire.
• Safety Care Training and Annual Health Services Training.
• Strong English reading/writing skills; grammar and punctuation.
• Basic math including fractions/percentages/ratios.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist and supervise students 1:1 or in small groups to meet IEP goals.
• Support students with daily living, motor and behavioral skills (feeding, toileting, etc.).
• Collect data on student behaviors and academics for Medicaid funding.
• Document duties and perform clerical tasks.
• Help students board/alight buses during AM/PM routes.
• Administer assessments and track student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to implement learning and behavior plans.
• Maintain attendance and confidentiality; communicate with diverse individuals.
