Job summary

DeKalb County School District seeks a SPED Paraprofessional to support students with diverse needs at Stone Mountain Middle School. The role emphasizes implementing high academic expectations, assisting teachers, and promoting student success in classroom and community settings.

The paraprofessional will provide direct instructional support, help with health-related tasks, and reinforce learning through small group or one-on-one sessions, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to FERPA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and pass the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• OR an associate degree or higher from a GCPS-approved college or university.
• 60+ semester hours or 90+ quarter hours with GPA 2.0+ from a GCPS-approved college.
• A valid paraprofessional certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists students with health-related and personal care needs as per IEP and district policy.
• Delivers small group or individualized instruction per lesson plans.
• Monitors students during non-instructional periods and supports classroom management.
• Assists with assessment and data collection under supervision of a certified teacher.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA.
