Job summary

Redwood City School District is seeking a paraeducator in Special Education to support a classroom of students with emotional, educational, physical and/or behavioral needs. The role involves assisting a certificated teacher and supporting individual and small-group instruction in core subjects.

Under supervision, you will reinforce instruction, monitor student behavior, participate in developing learning materials, and help with clerical tasks and record-keeping to ensure a smooth classroom

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and one year of experience working with children.
• Possession of First Aid certificate within probationary period may be required.
• Some positions may require a second designated language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of students with emotional, educational, physical and/or behavioral problems; provide individual assistance to students.
• Work with small groups to reinforce instruction and monitor progress.
• Review student history and individual education plans as directed; assist in preparing lesson materials.
• Set up learning spaces and prepare reading, crafts, and activities.
• Maintain records and assist with clerical tasks as needed.
• Accompany students to classrooms and supervise activities including field trips and lunch times.
