Job summary

Kelso School District is seeking a Para-SpEd-SLC at Lexington Elementary School. The role supports the special education teacher, handles IEP-related documentation, and assists with student supervision and daily tasks within a 6.5-hour day across 188 days annually.

The position requires CPR/First Aid, CPI training, and ability to work with students with disabilities. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance under the PSE 1 contract.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years old and meet PESB requirements
• Must have valid first aid and CPR cards (or obtain)
• Must have CPI training (or obtain)
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred
• Must be able to lift/assist students up to 21 years old
• Ability to work with teachers, parents and students in a team
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Must maintain confidentiality regarding student records

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with maintaining necessary records
• Ensure timely submission of IEPs and progress reports; document services provided
• Assist in daily hygiene activities for students with disabilities as needed
• Supervise students in cafeteria, classroom, on school grounds and in the community
• Take precautions to protect students and materials, enforce school rules
• Participate in classroom team meetings and professional development
