Job summary

Kelso School District in Kelso, WA seeks a Para-SpEd-RISE paraeducator to support a special education teacher at Coweeman Middle School. The position is temporary for the 2026-2027 school year and runs 6.50 hours per day, 191 days per year, with potential hour reductions for early releases and holidays.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEPs, progress reports, daily student care, and supervising students in multiple settings.

Qualifications

• Diversity awareness and the ability to set appropriate expectations.
• Valid first aid and CPR cards (or obtain upon employment).
• CPI training (or obtain upon employment).
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred.
• Must lift/transfer students up to 21 years old.
• Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, parents and students with disabilities.
• Team player with a positive, caring attitude.
• Willing to participate in meetings and trainings.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with email, computers, and smart boards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with maintaining records.
• Submit IEPs and progress reports and document services.
• Assist in daily hygiene activities for students with disabilities.
• Supervise students in cafeteria, classroom, grounds, and community.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Uphold school rules and policies.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
