Job summary

Kelso School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher for the Resource Program at Coweeman Middle School for the 2026/27 year. The leave replacement role involves developing IEPs, documenting progress, and planning activities for students with diverse needs.

You will collaborate with administrators, parents, and staff to implement individualized education plans, monitor progress, and support inclusive classrooms. A Washington state Special Education endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Washington State teaching certificate with Special Education Endorsement.
• Knowledge of current trends in curriculum and instructional techniques.
• Demonstrated academic preparation and/or experience in special education.
• Knowledge and skills in educational technology and ability to integrate technology into instruction.
• Willingness and ability to work cooperatively with administration, parents and staff.
• Diagnostic testing and remediation of learning problems.
• Expertise and/or experience in behavior management.
• Willingness and ability to work effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to adapt curriculum to students' interests and learning styles.
• Experience working with disabled students of various ages/levels.
• Awareness of diversity and ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs, FBAs, BIPs, ERP for students.
• Submit IEPs and progress reports on time.
• Plan learning activities for students with varied abilities.
• Organize programs for individual differences.
• Maintain Crisis Prevention Institute Training.
• Evaluate and adjust curriculum for individual needs.
• Use growth/development knowledge in school settings.
• Maintain student records and progress data.
• Confer with parents to report progress toward IEP goals.
• Collaborate with staff and supervise instructional assistants.
