Deer Park School District #414 is seeking a PARA EDUCATOR to support instructional services at Arcadia Elementary School. The role involves assisting certificated staff, supervising students, and helping implement discipline plans while preparing materials and maintaining records.

The position requires a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain, and completion of required education hours or an associate degree with PRAXIS competency testing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current first aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain promptly.
• Completion of at least 2 years of study totaling 72 quarter hours; OR obtained an associate's degree; OR met para-educator competency test (PRAXIS).

Responsibilities

• Maintain student discipline and positive behavior.
• Instruct students individually or in small groups under supervision of certificated staff.
• Adapt lessons and activities with teacher approval to supplement classroom instruction.
• Assist students in reading, writing, basic math, social-emotional skills.
• Score standardized classroom-based assessments.
• Prepare materials and supplies for supplementary activities.
• Develop and maintain student records as directed by a teacher.
• Assist in supervision of classroom, building and outdoor activities.
