Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District is seeking instructional assistants to support students in Special Education programs. Responsibilities include implementing IEP-related activities under teacher supervision, assisting in routines, and helping prepare materials.

Must have ParaPro score 457 or 48 college hours with 15 credits in related areas, plus ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Position requires ability to work with students in a supportive classroom setting and to accompany teachers on home

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• 48 semester hours with 15 credits in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or professional education (earned from regionally accredited college/university).
• Passage of Educational Assistant Assessment (ParaPro, ParaEducator, and Basic Skills) or ParaPro exam score.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom management routines.
• Accompanies the teacher on home visits, as necessary.
• Under supervision, direct IEP related activities of students.
• Prepare classroom for activities.
• Assist in preparing class displays and bulletin boards.
• Keep equipment/materials used by students clean and in good condition.
• Supervise playground, cafeteria, in-class, bus loading and other school activities.
• Participate in in-service activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
