Job summary

The Special Education Instructional Assistant at Wonderful College Prep Academy, part of The Wonderful Company, supports lead teachers to uphold high expectations for students in classrooms and related settings, including lunch and recess. The role emphasizes belief in students’ potential and 1:1 or small-group learning.

Key duties include implementing lessons aligned to state standards, assisting with assessments, and helping with IEP-related tasks while maintaining safety and strong family

Qualifications

• Experience with school-aged children, especially with special needs.
• Familiarity with IEP documentation and Special Ed reporting software (Siras preferred).
• Ability to read and implement lessons aligned to state standards.
• Knowledge of RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, and small group instruction.
• ABA training or exposure to ABA strategies is helpful.
• Familiarity with de-escalation strategies; CPI certification is a plus.
• First Aid/CPR certification is desirable.
• Proficiency with classroom technology and teaching tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teachers to maintain high expectations for all students.
• Provide 1:1 or small group instruction as needed, supporting diverse needs.
• Support campus safety and supervision before, during, and after school.
• Communicate with families and participate in community events.
• Provide clerical support and help with testing data and IEP documentation.
• Lead the classroom in the lead teacher’s absence.
• Participate in professional development and coaching cycles.
• Assist with day-to-day school site activities and logistics.
