Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a directly related field
• Valid Texas teacher certificate with required Special Education endorsements
• One year of student teaching or approved internship
• Demonstrated willingness to improve competency through professional growth
• Demonstrated knowledge of IEP/ARD processes and goals
• Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Demonstrated knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to stay current with developments in the profession

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD
• Implement instructional or therapeutic programs with documentation
• Modify curricula and assist in regular classes
• Use varied instructional techniques and media
• Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement
• Manage student behavior per IEP and intervene in crises
• Consult with teachers and resources on student needs
• Comply with regulations for special education
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Complete time and effort reporting as required
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
