Job summary

Jackson Co School District is seeking a Kindergarten–12th grade paraprofessional to support certified teachers and provide student supervision throughout the school day. The role includes assisting in adapting lessons, implementing motor/mobility plans with therapists’ guidance, and helping with classroom activities.

Responsibilities include clerical tasks, lunch supervision, personal care assistance, and participating in IEP meetings.

Qualifications

• Two years or 48 College Credit Hours (transcript verification required).
• High School Diploma/GED AND Verification of WorkKeys Scores.
• Possess a general understanding of the District Special Education Program.
• After 2017, WorkKeys requirements: Silver certificate with minimum score of 4 on ACT WorkKeys assessments.

Responsibilities

• W orks under the guidance of certified teachers.
• Assists in supervising students through the day's activities.
• Modifies curriculum and creates learning materials for access to general education.
• Implements motor/mobility plans with supervision from therapists and a certified teacher.
• Assists with lunch/recess, accommodations, and classroom routines.
• Performs routine clerical duties such as duplication of learning materials and inventories.
• Assists with personal care tasks as needed.
• Supervises students during classroom hours and follows daily lesson plans.
• Attends professional development offered by the Special Education Department.
• Serves as a member of the IEP team for students served.
