Job summary

Northwest Indiana Special Education Cooperative is seeking a paraprofessional to support classroom instruction and student care. You will implement activities, supervise students, and assist with feeding and personal care under teacher direction.

You must meet education requirements, read and speak English, and maintain regular attendance. The role follows the school calendar with on-site duties and requires flexibility to adapt to changing student needs.

Qualifications

• Education level: 2 years of college (60 credit hours), an Associates Degree, or a High School Diploma with ParaPro and passing score of at least 460 (Indiana Dept. of Ed).
• Capable of lifting minimum 50 pounds; uses two-person lift or equipment.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Regular attendance and punctuality required.
• Able to follow directions and collaborate on IEP implementation under supervision.
• Flexibility in educational environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement instructional activities as developed by the teacher.
• Follow the established classroom management system.
• Maintain records and data as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students — bus monitoring, lunchroom, playground, etc.
• Assist students with feeding, personal and hygiene care.
• Follow therapy plans under the direction of therapists and teacher.
• Adapt to changing needs of students.
• Maintain confidentiality of ALL student information.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervising teacher.
