Job summary

Qualifications

• Title I campus requires 48 college hours or a ParaPro score of 464.
• Non-Title I campus requires 15 college hours or a HS diploma/GED with ParaPro 464.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies for SPED aides.
• Participate in in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Maintain student records, audit folders and data collection.
• Prepare, use and maintain instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities and drills.
• Assist with self-care activities such as feeding and toileting.
• Assist in therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students through instruction as needed.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in IEPs.
