Job summary

LEONARD ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas is seeking an Aide for SPED/Structured Autism (ASIP). The role reports to the Principal and involves clerical, instructional and student-care duties on a 187-day schedule. Must hold ParaPro certification or college hours and demonstrate the ability to work with children with disabilities.

Position is Full-Time, non-exempt, with a wage/hour status and pay grade IS04. Starting date is immediate with an application deadline of Oct 02, 2026.

Qualifications

• College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
• College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate
• Ability to work with children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Knowledge of general office equipment
• Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education aides.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining student records, audit folders and data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Assist when needed in helping students in self care activities such as feeding and toileting.
• Assist in implementing the therapy programs which may require lifting and positioning.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students through instruction which may require lifting and positioning.
• Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
