Job summary

Labcorp in Winston-Salem, NC seeks a Specimen Processor I to join our team. The role involves preparing specimens for analysis, unpacking and routing to staging areas, accurate labeling and data entry, and shipping samples to testing facilities. Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team are essential.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 5:30 pm–2:00 am with possible overtime. Requires HS diploma/GED and ability to lift up to 40 lbs; color vision testing is required.

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
• Identify and label specimens accurately.
• Pack and ship specimens to testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Enter patient information data accurately and timely.
• Resolve and document any problem specimens.

Position Overview

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join our team in Winston Salem, NC

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 5:30 pm- 2:00 am, with OT as needed

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year or more experience (lab, accessioning, production, manufacturing or warehouse environment)
• 1 year of medical or production experience

Additional Job Standards

• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office
• Able to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
