Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team. The position handles preparation and labeling of specimens, routing to staging areas, and timely data entry to support accurate testing workflows.

Responsibilities include packing and shipping specimens, meeting production goals, and maintaining specimen integrity. Must have a high school diploma or GED, with preference for related experience and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 3 months or more of specimen processing experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience.
  • Additional: Comfortability with handling biological specimens; ability to work independently and with a team; strong attention to detail; ability to meet turnaround times.

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team in Burlington, NC.

Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of specimen processing experience
  • 3 months or more of medical or laboratory experience
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Benefits
  • Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
