Job summary

Altasciences is seeking a Specimen Management Technician to handle receipt, preparation, management, processing, shipping and storage of laboratory specimens in accordance with GLP guidelines and SOPs. The role requires close collaboration with study directors, coordinators and pathologists in a fast-paced environment.

The position emphasizes meticulous documentation, quality control, and adherence to IATA and 49 CFR transport rules while maintaining equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in laboratory or regulated environments preferred.
• Knowledge of IATA and CFR 49 transportation safety requirements preferred.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office; English proficiency required.
• Watson system knowledge preferred; strong cross-team collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, centrifuge, separate and transfer/ship specimens according to SOPs and protocol design with limited supervision.
• Maintain chain of custody and ensure timely transfer of specimens for analysis, archive, shipment or storage.
• Maintain and utilize laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Record procedures and equipment used; perform quality control of forms and logs.
• Cross-train to perform other duties within specimen management and assist other departments as needed.
