Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Problem Resolution Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX. The role includes handling customer inquiries via phone, email, and messaging while coordinating with the lab and patients.

The position requires strong communication skills, comfort with handling specimens, and experience in healthcare customer service. Monday–Friday 8am–5pm with rotating Saturdays and holidays; overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year or more experience in healthcare settings (hospital/clinic) preferred.
  • 1 year or more experience in customer service required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between lab, clients and patients.
  • Resolve customer requests via calls, chat, and email.
  • Communicate with customers in respectful, professional manner.
  • Research complex issues in multiple databases.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Identify and label specimens accurately.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Problem Resolution Specialist to join our team in Houston, TX.
Work Schedule

Monday through Friday 8am- 5pm, with rotating Saturdays and holidays, Overtime as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Act a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients.
  • Resolve internal & external customer requests via calls, instant messenger & email communications
  • Communicates with customers in respectful and professional manner.
  • Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
  • Provide customer education and information as needed.
  • Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
  • Accurately identify and label specimens.
  • Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
  • Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Minimum Qualification
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital
  • 1 year or more of experience in customer service
Preferred Qualification
  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • Associates degree
Additional Job Standards
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Familiarity with laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Well-versed in applications like Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and willingness to learn new applications
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
