Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Lab Lead Technician, Specimen Management to oversee evening and night shift specimen receiving and processing in the Core Lab. This hands-on leadership role balances operational oversight with frontline work, guiding staff and ensuring quality and safety.

The role focuses on transforming front-end lab operations during a major lab transformation, coaching staff, and implementing new workflows as automation is rebuilt and expanded.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
• Strong specimen-processing expertise and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead evening/night shift and coordinate workflow.

Responsibilities

• Oversee evening and night shift specimen management operations.
• Receive, accession, process, centrifuge, aliquot, and route specimens.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support for staff.
