Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated Specimen Accessioner to join the Overland Park, KS team. The role involves accessioning, sorting, labeling and data entry in a fast-paced laboratory setting, following SOPs.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00 PM–5:30 AM with mandatory overtime and rotating weekends every 3–5 weeks. Requires attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and basic lab handling capabilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required as minimum
• Preferred: prior Labcorp experience or lab/specimen processing exposure
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• Comfortable handling biological specimens and working in a team

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Accessioning team in Overland KS. The Specimen Accessioner will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures.

Work Schedule:

The schedule for this position will be: Monday-Friday 09:00pm-05:30am Mandatory OT based on volume/needs of department.

Mandatory Saturday or Sunday rotation every 3-5 weeks depending on staffing needs. Weekend shift is typically 4-8hours.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens

Minimum Qualification

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualification

• Current or prior Labcorp experience
• 6 months or more of experience in a lab or specimen processing
• 6 months or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience

• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
